Uncle Chad

My little bro, who is actually bigger than me, was in town Thursday night. He is working up in Chicago and came down to represent his company in Purdue's job fair on Friday. It was good to see him even if it was only for a few hours. We met at my apartment and he took Connor and I to Olive Garden. Yum! Then he got Connor's new musical potty working (that's a blog for another time)!

Fun times with Abby!

On Friday night Abby and I hung out and did some cooking. We made enough lasagna to feed a small army (Abby swears that Lance and Eric will eat it in less than a week by themselves)! After our dinner we took a looong walk, there was a point at which I thought I would collapse, but I kept telling her we could go farther (an example of how I need to learn to say "no" at times). Clearly, I am not in shape. My body is still recovering from the hour walk. I should mention that she walked and carried weights. Weights? Yes, I said weights. I probably would have only lasted 10 minutes with those things. Apparently we're going to start making this a regular thing, I'm all for it as long as I don't have to carry the weights!

Jeannie came over on Saturday and took some 2 year pictures for Connor. The little stinker refused to smile. She still did a fabulous job, but he wasn't giving her much to work with. Abby was over as well and the three of us tried everything to get him to laugh or smiles, but what you see up above was as close as we could get to lookin' happy! And wouldn't you know about an hour later he was his jolly old self again. It was a lot easier when he was under 12 months to take his picture! Thank you Jeannie you did catch a few good ones....we love you!

This week has been slightly less shocking, as far as student behavior is concerned. I'm glad it's Friday. I'm actually estatic. Really, I am.

Still, God is good and I am very blessed.

UPDATE

• I signed my lease today and got my keys after work. (I never knew how excited I would be to see my own refrigerator magnets again on the fridge, weird I know.)
• I got word that my car is officially "totalled." (I'm not surprised by this.)
• My class is going on a field trip to Prophetstown tomorrow. :)
• 4 of my students were suspended today (I can't blog about why, but lets just say the word "police" and you'll get that it was pretty serious...)

Is it Friday yet?

Note to Self...

1. Don't skip the coffee tomorrow.
2. Invest in some flat shoes.
3. Brown rice takes significantly longer to cook than white rice.

Ouch...

I'm sure most have heard by now of the car accident. I had just dropped Connor off at Faith (about 7:10 A.M.) and was headed west on 26. I was went to turn into Meijer and was hit by another car. It hurt. Me and the car. Thank God Connor wasn't in the car because the impact and the damage were to the passenger rear (were Connor usually sits). This was all very scary, I'm not sure how fast the other driver was going, but it was fast enough. Someone told me my car spinned around once, I couldn't really tell you its hard to remember. Luckily there was a Dr. that saw the accident and got over to my car fast enough to hold my head and make sure I didn't move. While the paramedics were trying to put me on the flat board and neck brace I'm more worried about someone calling Miller to tell them I'll be late. In the ambulance the nice paramedic called for me.

I was in the emergency room for a little over 2 hours (I was not the only car crash on Thursday morning). They called my mom for me and it never occurred to me to call someone else. It wasn't until after I was x-rayed and cleared at about 10 A.M. that I tried Bev and then Wendy. I shouldn't have been surprised that Wendy was there within 5 minutes and sat with me until my mom got there and then took the rest of the day off work (this was the same lovely lady that got me flowers on Wednesday because I was sick on Tuesday). I'm very lucky to have such concerned and loving people in my life. Thank you for all your prayers, text messages, and phone calls.

Today I'm in more pain that I had anticipated. I'm sore almost everywhere. I even have some slight bruising. And I was in the driver's seat on the opposite side of impact. Thank God Connor was not in the car. I have a lot to be thankful! Right now I have a rental (2008 Impala) and I'm waiting to hear if my car is going to be deemed "totaled" or not. When I called to let the school know how I was yesterday afternoon the secretary actually told me I was not coming in today! She told me "Young lady we are calling you a sub and you are not to worry about anything." They are very good to me as well. I had planned to go to game night tonight and really want to go, but the wise decision is to stay home and rest. I'll probably watch some movies so if anyone else isn't going to game night....(just kidding I would expect you all to go to game night).

In closing PLEASE be careful driving over by the road construction by Meijer and the church!!

Not so sure about this birthday present....

This was the one toy that came back with Connor from his Dad's today....is it just me? I'm really tired so maybe, just maybe, I'm not thinking clearly. Just seems like a slightly morbid toy car for a two-year old.....

Just to clarify I'm not at all mad, just confused . What toy company makes toy hearses??

It's hard to believe you are two today! I'm so blessed to have you in my life. God surely has given me much more than I deserve. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to guide and direct you towards Christ, what a truly awesome responsibility. It hasn't always been easy, but I know God will give us all that we need. Having you in my life is truly a joy! I love you more than I could ever describe! Happy Birthday!
